Believe it or not summer is almost with us. Those long hot days where you spend hours in the car sat in traffic jams on the way to a day at the seaside or in a queue on your way to work, only to arrive and find that the rest of the country has had exactly the same idea. There are no parking places within 5 miles of the sea front and to top it all the weather has closed in and you are surrounded by a thick sea fog. Oh to be in England now that summer is here, or not.
One thing is for sure driving along on a sunny day can be made a lot more pleasurable by fitting a set of wind deflectors to the doors of your vehicle. Quick and easy to fit, the acrylic wind deflectors are designed to fit into the wind channels of the doors. Held in place using the friction of the tight fit, the deflectors do not prevent the windows operating as normal and can be left in place once fitted. Designed to help reduce the levels of wind noise and turbulence you experience when travelling with your windows down.
In most cases deflectors are only available for the front door of the vehicle. The theory being that as the wind hits the front wind deflector it is pushed away from the side of the car, it is then not able to divert back to the side of the car until the rear window has passed the gap that has been created. So the rear windows will also benefit from reduced turbulence and noise when a front set of wind deflectors is fitted. Some manufacturers however do offer wind deflectors for the rear doors.
The wind deflectors do not completely eliminate the wind noise and turbulence but they do significantly reduce their levels. With the reduction of turbulence comes a reduction in noise within the vehicle. Making conversation easier and listening to music easier, as well as a more peaceful ride. The wind deflectors will also deflect small amounts of rain. Allowing you to leave the windows open even if the rain starts to fall. Something as we all know that is very rare in this country during the summer.
As always, it is important to remember that there are things that we can change about our vehicles to make our journeys more comfortable, all it takes is a little research.…Continue reading
