MPR has been very successful in capturing orbs on infrared video. We attribute this success to the ability of our psychics, Joyce and Misty, to call in the spirits and ghosts during our investigations. Since we have begun filming them during their readings of a property, the number of orbs we capture on film has more than tripled. I am writing this article to share some tips that I have learned while shooting video in infrared.
1. If you are fortunate enough to have psychic's working with your team, keep the camera focused on them during the investigation, or if you don't have a psychic, focus on the team member of your group who seems to be the most sensitive. Our experience shows that ghosts and spirits are most attracted to those that sense their presence and will come around that person more often.2. The team member running the video camera should have the best position in the room. They should position themselves in an area that allows for the most coverage of the entire room.
3. Forget the zoom button. Zooming greatly reduces your chance of catching activity in a room.
4. Avoid panning a room if possible. If you feel you must pan, then do it very slowly.
5. Orbs seem to appear higher up in still pictures than what they do when captured on video. Most of our orbs are captured waist high, usually between the knees and the shoulders. It's very seldom that you'll catch an orb near the ceiling so if your space is confined, concentrate on filming mid-level.
6. We have had better luck capturing orbs on film by filming around our team members instead of in an empty room. The ghosts and spirits are curious about our equipment and our presence and seem to like to follow us around to see what we're up to. Many of the spirits or ghosts are lonely and want to be around people instead of confined to one room. We are not suggesting that you don't film in an empty room but that you open your options to include filming around your team members. We like to use a combination. Some ghosts and spirits are not as sociable as others and will avoid the company or intrusion of visitors. If you choose to film an empty room, choose the one where the most activity has been reported.
7. When reviewing the film, I prefer to view it in a darkened room. This allows me to stay focused on the screen and also eliminates light reflections on the TV screen. It's important that you watch closely and a good idea to take several breaks during the viewing process. If you are distracted or tired you may miss that quick orb shooting across the screen. If you see an orb, rewind and view it again, re-play it in slow motion to rule out any reflections.
