Victim Name:
Cara Jo Roberts Age:
30 Date of Murder: November 5, 2008

|
| Known details: Family members say that Cara was putting together a toddler bed for her son in her home. Her 2 year old son was with the babysitter. When Cara failed to pick up her son, the babysitter called her husband. Her husband found her body in the bathtub around 5:30 p.m where she had died of a gunshot wound. Police said it did not appear that there was a forced entry nor were any items missing from the home. There was evidence that a struggle occurred before her death. The insurance company that Cara worked for had folded the previous Friday and it was rumored that Cara was to be a witness concerning an investigation of some fraudulent involving the insurance company. The possibility of a murder-for-hire quickly became the talk of the town. A neighbor assisted in providing a sketch of a suspicious man seen briskly walking in the neighborhood on that day and is considered to be a person of interest in the case. |

The Kansas City Homicide Squad is called in to assist in the investigation at the Roberts home. |

+ The sketch of the man that the police have is not the right person. He had nothing to do with the murder. + The person who committed the murder is an acquaintance of the family. He has broad shoulders, , kind of a little pot belly not very big…probably weighs around 275, about 5’10” to 6’ tall. He drives a dark colored pick-up truck. + The clothes were double-bagged in a trash bag and disposed of in an apartment complex dumpster. + The gun was thrown into a nearby lake.
Misty went into detail on the injuries received by the victim, where the main altercation took place in the home, the motive behind the attack and identified a man whom she believes is responsible for the murder. This information will remain confidential until the case is solved. |
