Home and Property Description & History:
+
A country two-story farm home which according to plat maps was built sometime in
the 1870’s. The house sits upon a couple hundred acres and was purchased by
the homeowner’s grandparents in the 1950’s. During the family’s lifetime
on the farm, many Native American artifacts have been found in the surrounding
fields, including arrowheads and pottery shards. In tracing back the history of
the house, it changed ownership several times. This area of

Owner Reportings:
+
The
homeowners stated that they could not specifically recall any paranormal
activity occurring in the home, however, their interest in inviting MPR to their
property was to possibly receive some answers concerning the numerous Native
American artifacts found in their fields.

Findings and Experiences:
+
Even though the family
did not feel the house was haunted, MPR set up recording equipment in the house
while they went to investigate the cornfield. No EVP’s were recorded however the
sounds of
heavily booted footsteps in the kitchen area which were recorded while the house
was vacant.
+
While Misty and Brenda were in the cornfield row, they both heard the sounds of heavy
footsteps which seemed to be encircling
them. After verifying that everyone else was still in the clearing, the
footsteps stopped.

+ I feel there is a creek off to the south and west of this place.
+
I’m seeing some soldiers walking through here, it’s like they’re following
somebody, not necessarily Native Americans. They are chasing someone. I feel
that they are black, some slaves. There is a reward out for these 5 slaves,
these 5 men.
+
The house isn’t haunted although they do walk through here.
+
I feel the slaves heading towards the creek. I feel them hiding, running along
the edges of the woods. The soldiers caught up with them but it was another 5 -6
miles over, maybe a little less when they caught them. They hung them, all 5 of
them. They were accused of something they didn’t do.
The
information regarding the run-away slaves and reward money, would have been
consistent with the known history of the area during the Border War and Civil
War era. Slaves were often rescued and set free by border ruffians and/or Union
soldiers, who would then capture them when they reached Kansas and return them
to their owners in Missouri for reward money.
+
The Native American presence here was here earlier than the soldiers. They were
not of a purebred tribe, they were a
+
I do not feel the soldiers or slaves are haunting this place but there is an
elderly gentleman here. I’m not going to say he’s haunting the place but he
does seem to hang around here quite a bit. I hear him going in and out the back
door. I hear him hanging around in the kitchen and upstairs sometimes. I see a
mule and a wagon with him. It’s like he’s been injured. He walks with a
limp. He was like in an accident where he was a hauling something and if fell
off, landing on him and hurting his right leg and hip. The name Jones comes to
mind. I’m not sure why that name is staying with me but it is. Research
was found regarding a former male owner of the home who died of blood poisoning
after having one of his legs amputated. His obituary indicated that he had
rheumatism was the cause for the amputation.
+
There is someone who had a stroke. Did your grandfather have a stroke?
Male homeowner’s grandfather died from a blot
clot on his brain. Is
there something here that belonged to someone who had a stroke, I’m feeling it
was your father or grandfather. The
upstairs is currently being used for storage and the homeowner revealed that
most of the boxes belonged to his parents and grandparents. Misty
then provided the homeowners with some private information.
+
There is a short lady who walks hunched over. I don’t know if she’s a
relative or yours or if she was associated with the house before your family
bought it. She’s not haunting the place, I can just feel her presence.
+
There is water close by where the Native Americans camped.
+
I can feel someone walking with us and I saw his eyes over in that grove of
trees a minute ago.
+
I need to make an offering of tobacco to them. Misty
proceeded to make the offering and then Brenda and she walked into the rows of
corn.
+
I feel something on the left side of me. There were two tribes that are built
into one. They went outside their tribes and married. They made camp here in the
summer but then went somewhere else to live during the winter. They called
themselves something that was a combination of the two tribe names. They were a
mixture of Sac and Fox and Osage.
About
this time, Brenda and Misty both reported hearing what sounded like heavy
footsteps to their left, circling around them to their right and then back to
their left again. Brenda verified that no other team members had come into the
corn rows.
+
There’s a warrior who is the keeper of the land. There is also a burial ground
to the north and west of here, however not too many from this tribe are buried
there. There will still be some artifacts there such as medicine bags and beads
but they shouldn’t be bothered. This tribe wasn’t warrior-like, they were a
peaceful tribe.
+
I need to come back where the field is more open so that it would be easier to
walk the grounds, sometime when the corn is not in the field.
MPR
SUMMARY
+
MPR did not find any evidence which indicated that the house was haunted.
+
There was some possible activity in the cornfield where several Native American
artifacts were found, but further investigations will be needed to determine if
any paranormal activity is occurring there. MPR hopes to return in the Fall or
Spring when the field should be easier to maneuver through.
