Brief Home and Property Description:

A beautiful two-story red brick structure which was built in 1864 as a coed college operated by the Baptist Church. The college went under quickly and was sold to the Presbyterian Church in 1867 and continued to operate as a college under a different name. The Baptist Church repurchased the college in 1881 and named it after one of it's prominent citizens. The college continued to operate until 1895 when it was sold as a private residence.

The current residents have lived in the home for approximately two years, buying the home from it's former owner who had begun restorations after many years of neglect.

The home consists of a foyer, a sitting room, a dining room, a living room, kitchen and bathroom on the first floor. The 2nd floor contains 4 spacious bedrooms, a bathroom and a large landing. The home also has a full size attic and cellar.


Current Owner Reportings:

? The female homeowner heard what sounded like someone jumping in the room above her. The noise was loud and very forceful. She was home alone and was very frightened by this incident.

? The knob on the back door was observed turning by itself and then the door opened.

? Female homeowner hears both male and female voices during the day which consist of the following: (female voice) "Hello", humming, "No"; (older male) laughter, "Hey";

(younger male) laughter, "Come on", "Follow me", "My name is R___", "Hi, how ya doing"; (young female) "Hey momma"

? Male homeowner woke up and heard a little girl saying, "Hi there!"

? Both male and female homeowners have smelled a strong blueberry scent in their master bedroom and on the stairway.

? Homeowner's daughter reported seeing the head of an older lady smile and disappear. This manifestation took place by her closet which was once the opening to a back staircase.

? Homeowner's daughter and son both saw a light move around the first floor bathroom and go through a wall.

? The whole family witnesses tapping and hammering sounds coming from the foyer at night.

? Male and female homeowners have heard moving noises and the sounds of the pocket doors opening and closing.

? Female homeowner often hears footsteps on the staircase when she is home alone.

? Female homeowner saw her daughter's glasses picked up by unseen hands and flung across the room in front of her.

? Male and female homeowners have smelled mysterious odors that seem to move about, which include  smells of wet dog, decay, spearmint, blueberry and burning.

? Female homeowner walked up the stairs and saw a shadowy figure of a man walk past the master bedroom going towards her son's room (balcony bedroom). The man paid no attention to her. Previous owners had reported seeing the same shadowy figure in the other son's bedroom (stairway bedroom).

? Female homeowner felt something sit at the foot of the bed which was followed by someone pulling the covers tight over her feet. Previous owners had reported experiencing the same incident.

? Female homeowner heard many female voices talking at once while upstairs only to hear them again downstairs along with the sound of horses hooves.

? Homeowner's son heard a scream and saw a white form which appeared to be wearing a billowy dress go through his bedroom wall.

? Previous owners claimed to have seen 2 full bodied female apparitions in the home. The older one said, "I am Frank C. Haley's, III's wife. This is my home, you need to get out." The younger woman remained silent.

? Previous owner claims to have two photographs, one showing a little girl at the front door with a bow in her hair and wearing a high yolk white dress. The other one shows 2 men in the sitting room window, one a large older man and the other a younger, dapper dressed man. The current homeowners have not seen these pictures.

? Male homeowner often finds the door connecting the master bedroom to the balcony room ajar. A dresser has been set in front of the door to provide privacy which requires you to push very hard to open the door but it is has been found ajar several times.






Reported Findings and Experiences:

? An EVP was recorded in the master bedroom during Misty's reading. The homeowner was telling her he had often found the door open when a male voice made a comment. The statement he made remains unclear but it sounded similar to "Lady Brook". Could the male voice have referred to the girls in the college by using the word "lady" in front of their first name?

? During Misty's reading the team and homeowners were standing in the foyer and living room. Misty had been relating some information concerning a former school master who was haunting the house when she felt one of the former student's father come in. He was very angry with the school master. At this time, the MPR team and homeowners heard a loud crash. Searching for the source of the crash, a curtain rod (still in its package) was found laying on the floor just outside the doorway between the dining room and foyer. The rod was lying on the foyer side of the doorway, in the opposite direction that it should have fallen if natural causes had contributed to the fall. The homeowners said that the rod had been leaned up against the wall in the dining room between the china cabinet and doorway. Misty felt as if either the Captain or the school master had picked up the rod and slammed it to the floor out of anger stemming from a scandal that had occurred between them. ? While in the cellar, Brenda felt something touching her hand. Joe turned the infrared camera towards her and saw an orb fly from her hand. Unfortunately the camera was not recording at the time so this was only observed on the screen by Joe and Stacy.

? There were several times throughout the evening when MPR members saw unexplained shadows cross in one of the rooms, especially downstairs.

? An EVP was recorded of a female voice in the upstairs hallway on the video audio. It sounds as if she is saying, "He Dares You, All". No one was in the house at the time of this recording. The same voice was captured again exactly 2 minutes and 1 second later saying what sounds like "Follow Now".

? It had been reported that 3:00 a.m. was a time that activity seemed to occur downstairs. Misty, Brenda and the male homeowner were sitting in the dining room when about 2:50 a.m. a cigar smell was detected in the room. At 3:00 a.m. the grandfather clock in the living room began chiming. Instead of chiming 3 times, it chimed 12 times before stopping. The homeowner said that the clock had never malfunctioned before.

? An EVP was recorded in the foyer of a male voice which sounds like, "Say it Again". There was a conversation taking place amongst team members in another room but it is unknown what they were saying at the time that might have prompted the comment.

? 2 EVPs were recorded in the dining room. One of a male voice which sounds like he's saying, "You're Wrong". Also the voice of female was recorded. She gives what sounds like the name of "Lulu or Lula Young". Information shared by the current owners concerning the history of the house was that a man named Young bought the house from the college, converted it to a private residence and made several renovations which included adding pocket doors. It was rumored that Mr. Young had multiple wives. This was probably the wife that Misty picked up on during her reading. The dining room was unoccupied at the time of these recordings and no other conversations could be heard in the house at the time.

? 3 EVPs were recorded upstairs when the MPR team decided to bed down for the night. The first EVP was in response to a comment that Brenda made concerning the chiming of the clock. She said, "Like they were not wanting us to fall asleep" when a male voice responded "Yeah". The 2nd EVP recorded at this time was again of a male voice saying, "I'm Ready For You, Boys". The 3rd EVP sounded like a female voice saying, "He Hurts 'Em'.

? An EVP was recorded of a female voice in the attic.

? Numerous orbs were recorded downstairs, upstairs and in the attic. Many of these orbs seem to have some kind of directional movement.

? During Misty's reading in the attic, a very strange anomaly was filmed on video. What appeared to be a body of 3 orbs with a stingray-like tail attached, flew in front of Misty's face, over the head of the female homeowner and up to the ceiling where it hovered for awhile. (SEE VIDEO)  Listen closely as you can hear the "swoosh" as it passes by.

? A 35mm photograph taken upstairs by Misty showed what appears to be some kind of white misty form.

Psychic Readings:


MISTY

Before going to the house to start the investigation, MPR had driven by earlier in the day in order to make sure they found the house before nightfall. Upon doing so, Misty gave this reading:

? There is a Sea Captain walking towards the house. His last name was either Schmidter or Schmelter or something similar. She said that he was going there to visit his daughter who was attending the college but that he also had some business there. His presence is really heavy there for some reason.



Reading continues at time of investigation:


Before Entering the House

? Most of the activity is upstairs in the boy's bedroom and in the little girl's bedroom. There is also activity in the kitchen and in the parlor. There is a lot of spirits coming in and out.

? There are 2 females, a male and another young man who is about 22-23 years. The young man committed suicide. He did not kill himself in the house. He did it over a girl. The young man's name is Jack Slater.

? One of the females is not here all the time but she does come back from time to time. The girl's name is Mary Elizabeth. The other female has not given me her name. I don't know if she will.

? The house next door has something to do with this house. I see a lot of activity between the two of them. The homeowner later revealed that the house next door was used as a dormitory for the school.



Inside the House

? There is an angry man upstairs. He's kind of a mean guy. A big guy. He was one of the school masters here.


Upstairs

? There's a male here, he's a big male. He's upset with the young females here. He was real strict, a very stern man. He was kind of abusive. Physically abusive, not just mentally abusive. If he would catch anyone out of line he'd take them and beat them, beat them very thoroughly. The kids wouldn't say anything to their parents.

? Are there other doors here that go into each room? Homeowner confirmed that all the bedrooms were connected by doors in each room. He wasn't a very nice man. Was he married? There is another woman involved here. This is an angry man. I'm not getting a name. I can see him. He's big. When he looks at you, he looks DOWN at you. He's angry, he's got my hair standing up, he makes me feel creepy. He used the doors. He went into every room, constantly. No one was able to sleep at night because he went from room to room to room. He's still here. He still does it. Homeowner confirmed that they would often find the adjoining bedroom doors ajar even though they made every effort to block these doors shut for privacy reasons. He's wanting us to know that this is HIS place and HE is in control. He didn't like the males, but he tolerated them.

? The young man who committed suicide went to school here. He did it over a girl. He wasn't allowed to see her or be with her anymore.

? I don't feel any really young children in the house. It's the male who is so dominant and controlling that I'm feeling the strongest.

? For punishment, not only did you get a beating but you were made to stay in the attic.

? There are two females still here.

? Find out if he smoked a cigar.

? Do you feel smothering in this room, like something is hovering over you or pushing down on you? (Master Bedroom) Homeowner stated that this was the room where she feels like she gets harassed the most and has a hard time sleeping. This was his room. This was his domain. He can't stay here. He has to go.

? Male homeowner was explaining to Misty how he found the connecting door opened one morning when an EVP of a whispery male voice said what sounded like "Lady Brook."

? Man, his presence is so strong here. He's just all over my back. There is a pain in my back and I can't get rid of it.

? He stayed with the women a lot for some reason. He was not a nice man.

? He doesn't like males at all. He had a real problem with them because he couldn't control them. I feel more male energy in these rooms (not your son's). This is where the boys slept.

? This was a female's room. (Upstairs Bathroom)

? There was a bench that sat across this wall. It was where they waited for their punishment. (Hallway upstairs)


Attic

? He put them up here for punishment.

? Mary Elizabeth was one he was very fond of. I'm not getting a last name.

? There were a lot of southern girls. I'm seeing some girls from down south, some from very prominent families. There was one named Charlotte. She had blonde hair and blue eyes. He was very, very fond of her. He fondled her quite a bit and was abusive in touching her and doing different things. His wife seemed to just let him do it. She was very intimidated by him.

? They had a female cook. Homeowner named the cook as Mrs. L___. She defended the girls as best as she could. She would always try to sneak them stuff when they got into trouble and couldn't have supper or couldn't do this or that. She would take care of the girls and sneak things to them. You'll hear her walking through the hallway and going into the kitchen quite often. Her domain was mainly downstairs.

? His footsteps are the ones you hear come up the stairway quite often… but she was the one who basically came back and forth. She did not live here at the school? Homeowner confirmed that she did not because she was a local. I did not see her living in this building.

? Did they ever find a girl missing? Was that ever reported around here? There was a lot of scandal with the school so you won't hear very much about it.

? The ones who were sent to the attic for punishment were given only a blanket, a pillow and a pee pot and that was it. They would have to stay up here. He was awful. He was an evil, wicked man. He's reliving his sins because he's guilty and he can't go into the light.

? He's moving about. He doesn't want to be in the same room with us. The women never talked about what happened because they were afraid of what people would think of them. He took advantage of a lot of females that way.


Downstairs

Sitting Room

? This is where the schoolmaster's wife spent most of her time. She liked to crochet and knit in this room. She was very comfortable and felt secure in this room. This is where she would come to isolate herself from everyone and all the activity.


Dining Room

? This was not used as the dining room. This was a classroom. The dining room was where the living room is now. Some of the locals came here and they didn't stay in the house at night. I see 12 desks. Classes were at different times.


Foyer

? There is someone that comes through here. The Captain who I saw before I came here had a daughter here. They were from the south. That's why he keeps coming back to this house. He might have been suspicious of what was going on but I don't know. At this time a loud crash was heard. A curtain rod was discovered lying in the doorway between the dining room and foyer. The rod had been leaned up against a wall in the dining room and the direction that it was laying when found would not have been possible if it had fallen on its own. We got his attention. Charlotte was the Captain's daughter. This incident was discussed between the team members and it was decided that the Captain had come to the house to confront the school master about his activities with his daughter which caused the outburst. Apparently the guilt over what the schoolmaster had done to his daughter was one of the reasons that he remained earthbound. The house became much more peaceful after this incident and later that evening, the school master came to Misty in a dream and offered up details about his excursions. These details were explicit and will not be revealed in this report.



Cellar

? I feel her mostly down here.

? Did a prominent person have this house at one time because I am seeing one whole rack of different wine bottles?

? At this time, Brenda told the group that she felt something touching her hand. Joe turned the infrared video camera on her and observed an orb leaving her hand. Unfortunately the camera was not recording so this was only observed on the screen and was not recorded.

? It's the woman. It's the cook. (Mrs. L___) She was about Brenda's size and she feels very comfortable with her.

? Joe indicated that another orb was hovering around Brenda as she pointed out a temperature drop. Again, the camera was not recording.

? There's something else in here besides her. Was there a guy that was a caretaker who took care of things here also? Homeowner indicated that Mrs. L___'s husband was the caretaker. He knew about a lot of the stuff that was going on here. I don't know how he knew, she must have told him. They are not earthbound, they are spirits that come and go. They're only here to watch out for the kids.

? I don't feel anything sinister down here. There's nobody buried down here or anything.


Back Upstairs

? Homeowner asked Misty which one of the ghosts liked the pocket doors. It was the wife. Was there some other person who owned this house? The reason I'm asking is that I may be crossing times. Homeowner indicated that the man (Mr. Young) who bought the house from the school was rumored to have 13 wives and was eventually run out of town. She is probably one of his wives because she's the one who closes the pocket doors. He put the doors in to isolate the wives. An EVP was recorded later in the evening of a female voice giving the name of Lula or Lulu Young.

? I saw a female with a baby. It might be Charlotte. The school master may have gotten her pregnant and that might be why the Sea Captain keeps coming back.


MPR SUMMARY

 ? MPR feels that this house was very haunted. At least 3 ghosts were present in the house which included the school master, Mary Elizabeth and the young man who committed suicide. We also felt that it was visited by several returning spirits. MPR performed a clearing and smudging of the home. The homeowner felt that the house was very peaceful for the 1st week following the investigation but has since reported that some activity is occurring again.
