Pre-Visit Visions from Joyce & Misty

Joyce’s Pre-Visit Visions

July 25, 2003

Joyce described seeing a little girl, wearing a white dress with a pastel print, covered with a white pinafore apron. She appeared to be about 7 or 8 years old and asked Joyce to help her cross over a fence. Joyce felt this was symbolic way to ask for help in crossing into the light. The little girl had dark hair and dark eyes. The description given of the little girl may be that of Ina Stillinger according to her photo.

July 31, 2003

Joyce saw a white two story house that had a ½ porch on the front. She said the townspeople blamed either a bum or someone who had traveled through the town, but this man was not the murderer. She said the murderer was a local man who lived nearby. People did not like being around him. He was already a little crazy but something happened involving the family that enraged him, sending him over the edge. He decided before he ever got to the house that he was going to kill them all and he could not stop once he started. The description of the house was accurate. Suspects included both local and traveling men. One of the suspects was a traveling minister named Reverend Lyn George Jacklin Kelly. Again, the information given about the murderer seems to be pointing in the direction of the either Frank Jones or his son.

August 3, 2003

Joyce described the murderer as a man with brown eyes, dark wavy hair and a thick mustache that was worn thick over his lip and blended with a rounded off beard. He was self-conscious of a narrow upper lip and wore his mustache thick in order to hide it. This man was either a farmer or had something to do with the farming business or both. He was having an affair with the murdered woman. This woman had long, curly dark hair and was very beautiful. He wanted to kill the whole family because they were all a bad lot. He hated the murdered man not only because of something to do with the affair but also because of some business dealings. There was another man who was with him at the house. This man had reddish-brown hair and freckles on his face. Joyce also saw two girls who were either twins or very close in age. It appears that Joyce is describing the suspect, Frank Jones as the description given fits the photo of him and his business dealt with the sale of farming implements. The information on the affair may not be quite right as the affair allegedly occurred between Joe Moore and Frank’s daughter-in-law, Dona. The description given of the woman having the affair does fit the description of Dona. There were rumors that Frank Jones was also having an affair with Dona. We cannot overlook the possibility that Frank Jones may have harbored a special fondness for Sarah. Perhaps this may have been another reason which led to his hate of the family or Joe leaving his employ. Did Sarah at have long wavy dark hair which is not evident in the photo? At this time, I cannot confirm any identities that fit the description of the possible accomplice. The two girls are probably Lena Stillinger (11 yrs) and Katherine Moore (10 yrs).

August 8. 2003

Joyce called to reveal some more revelations about Villisca. She said that two of the girls came to her and gave their names as "Katy" and Lena. They were good friends. She no longer felt that more than one man was involved in the murders. The man that did it was barrel-chested. He killed because of jealousy. Of the children killed, there were 3 boys and 3 girls. One boy was older than the other two, about 12 or 13 yrs old and the other two were quite a bit younger, one was 4 or 5 and the other was 7 or 8. Joyce gave Katherine’s name as Katy. It is unknown if Katherine went by this nickname. Lena is correct and seems to be the child that Joyce has had the most connection with. Herman, the oldest male child victim was age 11 at the time of his death, Boyd was 7 yrs. and Paul was 5 yrs.

Misty’s Pre-Visit Visions

August 1, 2003

Misty called and said that she saw two young girls at the house. She also said that two men were involved in the murder, one was wealthy. She didn’t give any descriptions. Without descriptions, we don’t know which of the three girls she saw. The wealthy man may indicate Frank Jones.

August 9, 2003

(Misty made the following notes while traveling to Villisca)

+ One of the girls name is Lena. She was about 11 or 12 years old. Another one is named Ica who is 8 or 9 years old. They were killed downstairs. Their last name is either something like Stillger or Stiles. One of them has light brown hair that is long. Lena woke up and saw the murderer. She tried to get away. That was around 2:00 in the morning. Misty came up with the correct name and age of Lena. Ina was the name of her sister and their last name was Stillinger. Both were killed in the downstairs bedroom. The position of Lena Stillinger’s body led investigators to believe that she was either moved or woke up just prior to being murdered.

+ Two of the boy victims were Lloyd who was 6 or 7 years old and Paul who was 5. The last name is Moore. They were killed in the same room. One has brown hair and the other has blonde hair. They both have blue eyes. They had some snacks before they went to bed on that night. One of other two children in the family was Herman, age 11. He had blue eyes and dark hair. The sister was named Katy and she had medium length brown hair. The brothers and the parents were killed in adjoining rooms. The 7 year old victim was named Boyd instead of Lloyd. Paul was 5 and Herman was 11. All four children were found in the same bedroom that adjoined the room of their parents.

+ One of the men involved was in the tractor or metal hardware business. There was a feud over the business with the murdered man. Joe Moore was once an employee of Frank Jones. He quit and opened his own farming implement store, becoming a bitter business rival of Jones.

+ The names of Jones and Keller or Kelly come up. One of them has a sunken face. Again Frank Jones seems to be a suspect, along with Reverend Lyn George Jacklin Kelly who was a traveling minister.

+ The man who committed the murders was a man named Bill Black. He had killed before. He had a connection to Illinois. Another man helped him. Misty seems to be indicating murder suspect, William "Blacky" Mansfield who was suspected in the axe murders of his own family in Blue Island, IL in 1914.

+ The parents' names were Sarah and Josh or Joe. Sarah had dark hair and eyes. She had health problems and emotional issues. The father had broad shoulders, a round and kind face. He was a nice person. Sarah and Joe Moore were the adult murder victims. The descriptions given above seem to be accurate. It was reported that Sarah had health problems.

+ Other people found the right man guilty but they were paid to revoke the charges. All 3 suspects were involved in a trial. Jones and Mansfield sued for slander and Rev. Kelly was brought to trial after confessing to the murders. He recanted his confession before going to trial. The first jury was a hung jury and the second jury acquitted him.

(Misty made the following notes after arriving at the museum)

+ A prominent man was involved who paid people. He had a lot of power, control and money. He was a large man. He doesn’t want anyone to know he had something to do with it. He used to own this building. He had a crooked beard and planned everything on the top floor of the hardware store, but he did not actually do the murders. Frank Jones fits the description of the man that is described above and also ran his implement business in the building where the current museum is housed.  (See photo below)

+ The man who did the killing wore black rubber boots and a black rubber apron. I keep getting the word, "Slaughter House." His name was Bill Black. He summoned someone from out of town to help with the murders. He left right after the murders. Reference to the name Bill Black may be in reference to suspect William "Blacky" Mansfield who was working at a slaughter house when he was picked up for questioning.

+ The oldest son of the man who was murdered, likes to hang out at the hardware store upstairs. He always hung out with his Dad. Herman idolized his Dad and often accompanied him to the store.

+ Lena had a crush on the eldest son and visits him often at the store. Sometimes she goes to the house. She was good friends with his sister, Katy.
