Hotel History& Haunted Reportings:

The history of the hotel is lengthy. There are several websites in which the history and past haunted reports can be found. In order not to infringe on copyright, please visit the following website for the history of the Baker Hotel and the reported hauntings.

We will cross-reference the reports found on the Baker Hotel History site that coincide with the readings by our own psychics under our "Psychic Reading" report.

Reported Findings and Experiences:

Upon arriving at the Baker, we were awed by the size and majesty of the hotel. It was breath taking to look in through the windows at the awesome lobby and one could not help but want to go back in time to see it in its glory.

MPR was given a grand tour of the hotel by its tour guides, touring the basement and all 12 floors of the Baker. We were most impressed with the lobby, the Brazzo's room and the Baker Suite, as much of the architectural beauty could still be seen.

Upon nightfall, the hotel was turned over to our team and the investigation began. We made camp in a room that overlooked the hotel gymnasium. Brenda saw someone walk across the gymnasium and assumed at the time that it was one of the tour guides. Later, when the tour guides returned, we found out that neither of them had been in the gymnasium. While sitting in our "camp room", the door to the room slammed shut. There was a draft coming in from the hallway but this draft would have caused an opposite reaction from the door.

Early in the evening, Jerry and Joyce were standing at the top of the stairway that led to the basement when the basement door swung open. This door is of heavy wire mesh, so any air should have passed through the door without opening it. Because we were given strict instructions that the basement was off-limits, no further investigation of this incident occurred. One of the tour guides returned later and locked the door. Around 4 a.m., the entire investigation team was awakened by the sound of a loud slam that came from the basement stairway. This sound was loud enough to awaken some investigators who were camped on the 6th floor. Upon investigating this, the door to the basement was found unlocked again and small wet foot prints could be seen leading away from the door and then suddenly the footprints stopped.

While Brenda was alone in the lobby, she heard voices of people talking. Two unidentified female voices were recorded in conversation during this incident.

While the team was visiting in the Brazzo's room, guest investigator Tonya Lew, from Ghouli, and Brenda felt a sudden drop in temperature while sitting on the stage. Pictures taken during this time showed an orb nearby. Ghouli captured a bright orb in motion but the picture was lost due to an accidental erasure.

Early in the morning, not long after everyone was aroused by the loud banging sound, Joyce, Misty, Brenda and Ghouli Trainee, Tammy, were making another tour of the hotel. Misty suggested that they go down the steps leading to the kitchen. Upon doing so, Misty suddenly felt as if something was standing at the bottom of the steps and took a picture. This picture shows a mass of supercharged energy that comes close to resembling a skeleton. (See photo).

All in all, the investigation was a very interesting one. The size of the hotel and lack of electricity did much to add to the environment. MPR hopes to return with its full team sometime in the future to do a more thorough investigation.

17 orbs were recorded on video during Joyce's reading: 3 on the 2nd floor, 8 on the 3rd floor and 1 in the Baker Suite near the back stairway when Joyce said that someone had been pushed down the staircase.

It was very difficult to distinguish actual EVPs from echoes and normal hotel noises. However, we do feel that we successfully recorded 3 of them. Two of those were recorded in the lobby when Brenda stated that she heard several voices talking. These were of female voices and are as follows: "Is that Everyone?" another voice answered "You Better Be Quiet." The next conversation recorded was a couple minutes later, again, two female voices were recorded: "You'll Have to Make Her" followed by "Shhh."

The 3rd EVP was recorded on the 8th floor during Joyce's reading. A male voice is recorded as saying "Will You Save Me?"

Psychic Readings:

Joyce's Readings

+The night before MPR left for Texas, Joyce saw a woman jump from the balcony of the top floor. This suicide occurred when many people were around. The woman was distraught. During the investigation, Joyce did not make contact with this woman and does not feel that she is a ghost that resides at the hotel. Hotel history confirms that a woman did jump from the balcony of the twelfth floor.

1st floor (The Brazzo's Room)

There is a woman in a yellow ball gown here named Mary Ann.

2nd floor

There are 4 spirits that move through here. One is named Raymond. There is also a man with an enlarged heart who died here. He is trying to say something about boots. His name was John. I feel no threats or anger here. Another man named Joseph Bentley said, "I have 5 more days." He was there for treatment. He was tall, slender and had a full head of gray hair. He was about 65 or 70 years old but appeared to be younger. He was in the banking business and worked in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Another man (in the men's shower room) said, "Don't come in here." He is from Kansas, is short and stocky and has a red face with a beard. He also has a scar on the side of his face.

3rd floor

A child runs around on this floor. He is a boy named Henry who was brought here for treatment. He may have had polio. His last name started with the letter S and may have been Simpson. He was here in either the 1940's or 1950's. He is a ghost. They kept the children on this floor. There is also a little girl named Bonnie who is saying, "I want my dolly." As reported in "The Ghost of the Baker Hotel", a local psychic claimed to have talked with a small boy who was 6-8 years old who died in one of the hotel apartments in 1933 while seeking treatment for leukemia. Although the readings of both psychics vary in detail, they are at the same time very similar.

4th floor

I don't like this floor.

5th & 6th floor

No reading

7th floor

Joyce was asked if she felt a woman on this floor. This is the floor where it is reported that the woman who jumped from the balcony stayed. Joyce picked up a woman named Ruth, but didn't feel that it was the same woman who jumped. She felt peace and warmth in the room.

8th floor

When Joyce entered this floor, she had a feeling she didn't understand. Other than that, everything felt peaceful. When we entered the room above where the 7th floor female guest reportedly stayed, Joyce encountered a female who said, "My name is Kate and that I like." During this encounter, an EVP of a male was recorded on her recorder saying, "Will You Save Me?"

9th floor

By the time we reached the 9th floor, Joyce felt her energy was drained. She felt many spirits on this floor.

10th floor

No reading

11th floor (The Baker Suite)

Mr. Baker returns in spirit to visit the hotel but is not a resident ghost. Somebody may have been pushed down the stairway that leads from his suite.

12th floor (Ballroom)

No reading

Misty's Readings

+The woman who jumped from the balcony had brown hair. She was very beautiful.

+A male rides up and down in the service elevator. He comes up from the basement and gets off on different floors, mostly on the 5th floor. Hotel history reports the death of a 15 year old male employee who was crushed at the waist while trying to jump into the elevator from the basement floor. He died ½ hour after the accident.

+Most of Misty's readings were inaudible on tape. She did state that she felt much activity on the 5th and 7th floors and was overcome by a female ghost in the ballroom.
